Endicott leads the all-time series 11-9-5

Moving into week ten of Division III play, teams are starting to take form and separate themselves from the pack. In this week’s featured series, two top-10 teams meet in a home-and-home matchup that always seems to bring fireworks. It’s #8 University of New England traveling to face #10 Endicott College on Friday at 6 PM ET before UNE hosts the following night at 7 PM ET.

Over the previous ten matchups dating back to 2023, Endicott has controlled the Nor’Easters, holding a 7-2-1 record. Despite several one-goal and overtime contests during that stretch, the Gulls have outscored UNE 38–22. Both teams have also dropped games to Suffolk University in CNE play this season. Friday’s contest takes place in Beverly, Massachusetts at Raymond J. Bourque Arena, while Saturday’s matchup shifts to Biddeford, Maine, at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Friday night host Endicott enters this rivalry series riding an eight-game winning streak this season, boosting its record to 11-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play, with the tie and loss coming from Suffolk, aforementioned. Since that point, Endicott has outscored opponents 38-12, including a 4-2 victory over No. 15 Bowdoin and two shutouts. The recent stretch reflects the level of play the Gulls have shown throughout the season. The one unknown from the Gulls here is that their schedule outside of a few games has been relatively weak, ranking 74th of a possible 91st in the strength-of-schedule rating as of (1/14/2026).

The primary driver behind Endicott’s success has been offensive consistency. The Gulls currently rank eighth nationally in goals per game at 4.38, scoring a total of 57 goals through 13 contests. Much of that production has come from a strong freshman class, as the team’s top three scorers are all first-year players. Noah Gibbs and Louie Kamienski lead the way with 14 points apiece. Kamienski has split his production evenly with seven goals and seven assists, while Gibbs has recorded six goals and eight assists.

Freshman impact has extended beyond the offensive zone as well. Goaltender Peter Sterling has started 12 of the team’s 13 games after previously playing with the Colorado Grit. Sterling has posted three shutouts, the most by a freshman goalie this season, while holding a 1.61 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage, providing stability in net during Endicott’s surge.

As we turn to the higher-ranked team, the Nor’Easters have not enjoyed the same recent stretch as Endicott, dropping two of their last three games. Coming off a 7-4 victory against Suffolk, UNE enters the weekend looking to right the ship. While the Nor’Easters’ record may not appear as clean as the Gulls’ at first glance, the strength of schedule has played a significant role. UNE currently owns the 27th-ranked strength of schedule nationally, compared to Endicott’s 74th out of 91 teams as mentioned earlier, giving added context to UNE’s results against a tougher slate of opponents. Drew Oliveri & Dominic Murphy have become the two offensive leaders for the Nor’Easters as they’ve both tallied 21 points apiece through their 14 games.

UNE has picked up wins against #7 Curry, winning the season series 2-1, and Colby College, which has received votes, while also dropping a game against a shared opponent in Bowdoin. Just like Endicott, their offense has been a storm all season long. The Nor’Easters rank sixth nationally in goals per game at 4.43 and have paired that production with strong defensive play, owning a +31 goal differential after scoring 62 goals while allowing just 31. Furthermore, UNE has been perfect on the penalty kill, stopping all 47 penalties they have drawn. We’re in for another great series between these two top CNE teams.
