The Castleton Spartans are a Women’s Division III ice hockey team representing Castleton University, located in Castleton, Vermont from the Little East Conference. The team is based out of Spartan Arena, which is located in Rutland, Vermont. The women’s program was established at the club level in 2003, and ultimately elevated to varsity status for the 2004-05 season, playing a partial conference schedule in the ECAC East for that first season.
